Writing Rules

Articles submitted to the Journal of Physical Education, Sports, Health and Effort must be prepared in accordance with the writing rules provided below. Articles may be written in Turkish or English. All authors must comply with academic ethical rules and upload the ethical committee approval document to the system. The article template file can be downloaded below and the necessary adjustments should be made to this file before submission.

General Rules

  1. Works to be published in the journal must not have been previously published in any other publication, the publication rights must not have been granted, and they must not have been submitted to multiple journals for publication at the same time.
  2. Authors agree to transfer the publication rights of the work to the Journal of Physical Education, Sports, Health, and Effort upon acceptance for publication.
  3. Authors confirm that the work submitted to the journal complies with the principles recommended in the Helsinki Declaration for human and animal studies. Responsibility for this lies entirely with the authors.
  4. A plagiarism report obtained from plagiarism detection software such as iThenticate or Turnitin, signed by the authors, must be uploaded as an additional file. The similarity rate, excluding quotations, must be no more than 15%.
  5. If the study has been supported by an institution/organisation or prepared as a doctoral/master's thesis, this must be indicated in a footnote on the first page.
  6. The names of authors and their institutions should not be mentioned in the text. The order of authors and their institutions should be specified during the submission process.
  7. After the article has been submitted to the journal for publication, none of the authors may be removed from the list of authors without the written consent of all authors. Furthermore, no name may be added as an author, and the order of authors may not be changed. The main author of the work must be indicated.
  8. Articles that comply with the journal's writing rules should be uploaded to the journal via the system at Submissions | Journal of Physical Education, Sports, Health and Effort.

Writing Rules

1. The study should be organised as ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, METHOD, RESULTS, DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION, REFERENCES, and each section heading should be written in bold, capital letters and 12-point font.

2. The title of the study should be centred, written in 12-point Times New Roman font and bold.

3. If the paper is in Turkish, the author's name(s) should be followed by a Turkish abstract, keywords, and then the English title of the paper, English abstract, and ‘Key Words’ in that order.

4. The abstract should be written in Times New Roman, 10 point, single-spaced, and justified. The abstract should be a single paragraph of 150-250 words. Keywords should consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 words. The keywords heading should be in 10-point bold font. Keywords should be separated by commas (,), listed alphabetically, and the first letter of each keyword should be capitalised. There should be one line space between the introduction and the keywords.

5. The text should be written in Microsoft Word using Times New Roman font. The body of the text should be 12-point font, 1.5-line spacing, and justified. The reference list should be 10-point font, single-spaced.

6. Tables, graphs, and statistical reports should be prepared according to APA style. Table text should be 10-point font with single spacing.

7. Figures, graphs, photographs, etc. should be labelled as ‘Figure’ if they are numerical values and ‘Table’ if they are graphical. Figure titles should be placed below the relevant graph, and table titles should be placed above the relevant numerical value.

8. First-level headings (INTRODUCTION, METHOD, RESULTS, DISCUSSION and CONCLUSION, REFERENCES, etc.)

Please use this style at the beginning of all paragraphs. Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing, justified.

9. Second Level Headings (Data Collection Tools, Participants, etc.)

Please use this style for all paragraph headings. Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing, justified.

10. Third Level Headings

Please use this style for all paragraph headings. Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing, justified.

11. TABLES

Tables, graphs, and statistical reports should be prepared according to APA 7 style. Table font should be 10 point single spacing.

Example table display;

The title should be Times New Roman 10 point, and only the first letter of the table title should be capitalised.

12. In-text citations

Author information can be provided inside or outside parentheses.

• In citations within parentheses, the author's name and publication date are included in parentheses. The author and date are added at the end of the sentence within parentheses, and a comma is used after the author.

• In citations outside parentheses (narrative), the author's name is included as part of the sentence and the year is placed in parentheses.

• If a work has two authors, always include both authors' names in every reference to the source.

• If a work has three or more authors, only give the surname of the first author, followed by ‘et al.’ and the year.

• When multiple sources are cited in parentheses, they should be listed in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons. If multiple sources are cited in the text, the order can be arbitrary.

Note: All source citations must be formatted according to APA 7.
