Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the incentive, effort and expectation dimensions of family and environmental factors that are effective in the professional athletes playing in the Efeler League in Turkey towards volleyball. Research data was obtained through personal information form and survey. The research was conducted in the 2022-2023 volleyball season and the population consists of 14 teams and 187 athletes competing in the Efeler League. The sample consists of 10 teams and 128 professional volleyball players who were deemed sufficient as a result of the power analysis. The data obtained was analyzed with IBM SPSS 25 Package Program, and normality examinations, t-test and ANOVA analyzes were also performed. In the study, factors such as the influence of mother, father and sibling, the influence of the coach in the immediate environment, increasing financial income and living a comfortable life, enjoying success, being a national team athlete and being recognized by everyone and being healthy are highly effective in athletes' starting volleyball. It has been determined that the influence of factors such as the influence of television channels and the influence of a favorite athlete on starting volleyball is quite low. As a result, it has been concluded that the age range of 5-8 years is the most appropriate age to start volleyball, as family, environment and society factors are very effective in helping individuals start volleyball.
