EXAMINATION OF LICENSED ATHLETES'S SUPERSTITUTIONS AND BEHAVIORS ACCORDING TO VARIOUS VARIABLES (KIRIKKALE PROVINCE EXAMPLE)

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the superstitious beliefs and behaviors of athletes according to various factors. Descriptive survey model was used in the research. Athletes between 11-25 participated in the study. 177 people participated in the study with the convenience sampling method. A questionnaire form was used to collect data in the study. Questionnaire form was used from questions about personal characteristics and Superstitious Behavior and Behavior Inventory in Sports. SPSS 21 package program was used to analyze the data. Descriptive findings for the inventory of superstition and behavior in sports were examined. When the average scores are examined, the total scale score and the scores of the other sub-dimensions are below 2, except for the Praying sub-dimension. This shows that the athletes participating in the research have a habit of praying in particular. Perceptions of female athletes about objects considered auspicious are higher than that of men. The scores of 21 years and older athletes in the clothing and appearance sub-dimension and in the pre-game and pre-match sub-dimension are significantly higher than the others. Athletes in the football and volleyball branches have higher scores from the objects considered auspicious sub-dimension, while the athletes in the athletics and football branches have a higher score in the praying sub-dimension.
