Abstract

THE EFFECT OF GAME AND RHYTHM BASED GYMNASTICS ON GIRLS' COORDINATION AND FLEXIBILITY DEVELOPMENTThis study aims to investigate the effects of game and rhythm-based gymnastics activities on the coordination and flexibility development of girls. The research was conducted at a private school in Kırıkkale with 30 female students aged 8-10 years (15 experimental and 15 control groups). A 12-week training program was implemented, consisting of gymnastics sessions, various games, and rhythm exercises conducted three days a week. At the beginning and end of the study, the students' coordination and flexibility levels were assessed using specific tests and measurements. Coordination development was measured through balance and movement coordination tests, while flexibility was assessed using flexibility tests. The findings indicated that game and rhythm-based gymnastics activities positively impacted the coordination and flexibility of the girls. Specifically, rhythm exercises were found to be effective in enhancing movement coordination and flexibility. These results suggest that game and rhythm-focused gymnastics programs can be an effective method for supporting children's physical development. It is recommended that educators and sports professionals implement similar programs and consider the importance of game and rhythm elements in children's development.
